Matthew Peel Physiotherapist
Coming to Functional Health with a wealth of industry experience, Matt is our most recent addition. Matt is a Gold Coast local, completing his Exercise Science and Master of Physiotherapy degrees at Griffith University in 2010. He has since worked at a number of private clinics, honing his Hands On and Exercise Prescription skills. He has a vast knowledge for treating musculoskeletal conditions including; lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, tennis and golfer’s elbow, hip and knee pain, ankle sprains and strains. Muscle strains such as the hamstring, calf and bicep are of particular interest, and he excels at treating ailments like plantar fasciitis, knee arthritis (meniscus and ligament), hip and shoulder bursitis and spinal disc bulges/herniations.
Matt uses a number of cutting edge Hands On techniques, and bases his treatment methods on the most up to date science. Deep tissue massage, dry needling, trigger point therapy and muscle energy techniques are just some examples. He is also well versed in provision of Pilates based exercises to help insure progression and results. Matt prides himself as a very hands on therapist, and likes to spend the nominated treatment time in-room with the client, as opposed to juggling 2-3 clients at once.
One of the greatest advantages Matt has is his ability to empathise with his clients. Chances are he has suffered from your injury at some point, so he knows what works. Matt has a sporting background playing QLD Premier Rugby for the Gold Cast as well as representing Queensland Country on a number of occasions. He grew up on the Gold Coast participating in sports ranging from surf boat rowing and swimming to tennis and cricket. These days, his spare time is devoted to his twin boys, Ardyn and Quinn, and sneaking out for a surf at South Straddie whenever he can.
Matt is an established Gold Coast Physiotherapist and has gained quite a reputation for his work with chronic/persisting injuries. Matt’s ‘Action Plans’ to deal with pains that have lasted longer than 3 months help achieve real, long-term results for his clients.
